Nistowiak and Back 2019

Join Boreal Outdoor Recreation Association on a fatbike adventure like no other! We will bike on groomed trails along the Churchill River from beautiful, historic Stanley Mission to Nistowiak Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in Saskatchewan. Once there, we will enjoy a fish fry supper and overnight stay at Jim’s Camp. After a brunch at camp we will make our way back to Stanley Mission.

Please note, Jim’s Camp cabins are rustic, and have woodstove heat and no running water.

EARLY BIRD tickets are $250 per person until the end of January. Then it’s $300 per person. Email BORA.LaRonge@gmail.com to register. At this time we’re taking etransfers, cheques and credit card through the ‘Get Tickets’ button at the top of the event page. No refunds after February 16th.

MORE DETAILS:
It is a 20km ride out and 20km back leaving and ending at Stanley Mission. Jim’s camp is a First Nation owned and operated summer fishing camp on the Churchill River. People will be staying in the rustic cabins at the base of Nistowiak Falls. There is no running water in the cabins in the winter season, and a wood stove in each for heat. There are beds with pillows and likely summer bedding, but participant should bring a sleeping bag. There is a main lodge for meals and gathering.

Riders are responsible to bring their own trail food. Supper on Saturday is provided and is locally caught and prepared fish and potatoes. Sunday morning breakfast is provided as well as bannock and chili when we get to Stanley Mission.

During the ride there will a safety snowmobile or two nearby if there are issues with someone’s bike or an injury prevents them from biking. The trail is not very technical but a certain level of fitness is required to complete this human-powered adventure. A snowmobile will be available to transport people’s gear out as well.

The event is also weather dependant, if it’s -50°C we may have to change plans. Also if it becomes too warm and the river/lake opens up we’ll have a contingency plan in place.
